Charters Towers Central State School is located in the Townsville District of Education Queensland. The school services the community of Charters Towers as well as some rural districts to the south and west of the town. The town population is approximately 10,000.

Charters Towers Central State School offers:

• A Special Education Unit (SEU);

• Curriculum ranging from Preschool to Year Seven;

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student support through an ASSPA Committee.

• Integration of SEU and other Special Needs Students into mainstream classrooms.

• Languages Other than English (LOTE) study in the Japanese Language;
